Cleaners are one of the harder products to ensure are free of dangerous chemicals that can be harmful to our family and pets. We have some severe allergies in our house and things like all-purpose cleaners, window cleaners, and other products can cause asthma and worse. In our quest to avoid these products we’ve started making many things ourselves, which is where this citrus cleaner was born.

This orange cleaner is super easy to make, with no harsh chemicals, fragrances, or fillers. You can use it in the kitchen, bathroom, or any other place around the house. It’s also kid and animal safe so you can feel good about using it around your family.

What You Will Need To Make Your Citrus Cleaner

  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Large Canning Jar or Pickle Jar

How To Make This Fantastic Citrus Cleaner

  • Orange, Lemon or Grapefruit Peels (you can also add a citrus essential oil but we prefer to do it this way)
  • 4 Cups of white Vinegar
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Organic Castile Liquid Soap
  • 1 Cup of water

Save all of your orange, lemon or grapefruit peels and place them in a mason jar (or another jar that seals on top).  Fill it to the top with vinegar and replace the lid. Sit it in your cabinet for 7-14 days (I do 14) and it really releases the citrus oil from the peels. Strain the peels from the vinegar, you can either discard them or throw them in the compost bin like we do so they don’t go to waste.

Take 1/2 cup of the vinegar and pour it into a squirt bottle with, water and Castille soap. Place lid on top of the bottle and secure tightly. Shake the bottle and use.

This can even be used in to clean the dog house, as a chicken coop cleaner
