Spread the love
Out of all of the apple pie recipes, I have to say that Dutch Apple Pie is my favorite one. I just love the apple pie with delicious oatmeal crumbles on top, crisp and chewy and the sweet and spicy cinnamon complimenting the tender baked apples. Mmmmm, so good!

This Dutch Apple Pie recipe has been a favorite in our family for so long. We have pictures of us in the kitchen baking them with grandma as children. It holds a special place in our hearts and we are so happy to share this family treasure with you!

This is called Dutch Apple Pie from the crumble topping called streusel on the top.

Is Dutch Apple Pie really Dutch?

Dutch Apple Pie is not really Dutch at all. The Dutch would have made a dish that would be more cake-like than pie-like. We have streusel muffins and cake recipes if you would like to try one.

Do I have to Use Organic Ingredients?

No, you don’t. Use what you have on hand. You will use regular flour, etc measure for measure in the recipe.

I Can’t Have Sugar, can I still make this recipe?

We have not tried it but natural sugar substitute SWERVE is a way to enjoy this recipe without the sugar. Just use SWERVE in place of sugar in a 1.1 ratio.

How Do I Make This Gluten-Free?

Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free All-purpose flour can be used at a 1.1 ratio when replacing the listed flour in the recipe. We have not tried this personally but it should work just fine.
