It may be in the 90’s here at Rosevine Cottage, but fall decor is on our mind! Today we tackled restyling our fall mantel decor, for a little bit different look. This time around it’s all about pumpkins, white pumpkins and green are our very favorite to use in our fall decor so of course, we included them this year.
Using White Pumpkins In Fall Decor
We wanted our fall mantel decor to be what catches your eye when you step into our living room, so we went with our giant white pumpkin pallet art that we painted last season. It’s a truly massive piece that really sets the stage for the rest of the room. We actually updated this beauty with gold leaf highlights a couple of weeks ago.
We used recycled pallet wood for the base, these are super easy to build. You just take all the pieces of wood off, then nail them back to the base touching. We’ve created four of these and it’s so fun! For this one, we used chalk paint, acrylic paint, and liquid gold leaf.
We wanted a little more rustic look to our pumpkin than the regular orange round ones so we gave it some angles and then did the pumpkin in a translucent white so that you could see the rough aged wood through the paint. For the stem, no ordinary stick would do but we wanted the bends and curves to show in the stem and in the vines. This pallet was already naturally aged but if it was not we would have worked on aging it with paint because we really loved the way this dark wood looked.
Adding Layers To Our Fall Mantel Decor
In front of our pallet art, we added the moon we painted last week. We saw the inspiration for our moon over on Liz Marie Blog and fell in love with it. So, of course, we had to create our own! It’s such a cute addition to our fall mantel decor. We made ours out of a piece of wood from Lowes that was meant to be a tabletop but with a couple of coats of paint and a little sketching by mom, we made this great vintage looking moon to peek over the livingroom.
To one side of the moon, we added this adorable sign we picked up at Hobby Lobby last season. It adds the perfect farmhouse touch to our mantel. On the other side of the mantel, we added a bronze candle holder and a cute mini pumpkin.
On the other side of the mantel, we placed a neutral-colored clock to mirror the shape of the moon. Next, to it, we placed a pile of mini pumpkins with a bronze candle holder and silver candlestick.
Using Garland In Your Fall Decor
We decided to layer our garlands for this fall mantel, for a base we used a strand of cotton garland we picked up at Hobby Lobby. On top of that, we wove in a strand of fall foliage that we edged in gold leaf. On top of that, we added a piece of rust-colored metal garland with bells, little leaves, and stars. It’s a cute addition that pulls in the colors of the wood in our pallet art. Below the garland, we swagged a galvanized letter banner.
Fresh And Faux Pumpkins Fall Decor
In front of our fireplace, we used a mixture of fresh and faux pumpkins in our fall decor. Some of these big beauties are from our garden this year, some we saved from last year. The little faux ones we picked up at Walmart and Dollar Tree over the years. I absolutely love their color especially the big blue one!
Gorgeous Fall Mantel Decor
Gorgeous fall decor doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated, it can be as simple as restyling what you already have around the house. A great way to find fall decor that won’t break the bank is to look for sales, check yard sales, and estate sales. Even if they don’t have exactly what you are looking for, look for things you can upcycle and makeover to create the perfect item.
