Tips For Cooking A Perfect Roast
Cooking a chuck roast to perfection is something any cook can be proud of, with the right technique you can turn a cheap piece of meat into a culinary delight.
Tips for cooking the perfect pot roast:
- Pat the meat dry with a paper towel before seasoning and searing. This will help you get a better sear.
- Season the meat before you sear it, even if the recipe you are using doesn’t call for it.
- Sear it well, this will caramelize the natural sugars in the meat and brown the protein. This will give the meat a deeper flavor.
- Sautee the vegetables before cooking them with your pot roast.
- Low and slow is the way to cook this kind of roast.
- If you are adding delicate herbs to your roast, add it in at the end of your cooking time. You can stir it in or simply place it on top.

Eye of the stove? Never heard this term before. Where is this?
Hello Cindy! The term “eye” is another way to say the burner. The term goes back to wood stoves where the cooking surfaces resembled and eye on the stove. Sorry for the confusion my friend. Hope your roast is amazing!
