The Best Homemade Classic Chili Recipe

Posted on February 22, 2013August 6, 2020 by Rosevine Cottage Girls
Spread the love

I can’t even begin to tell you the memories of this beef chili recipe as a little girl. The kitchen with the smell of beef cooking. The peppers and onions sauteeing- mmmmm nothing beats a delicious bowl of beef chili on a chili day or just when you are craving comfort food. The best part of grandma’s chili recipe? It’s so easy to make!

The single men in the neighborhood could smell it cooking from a mile away and would come begging for a bowl of chili from my dear mama. She loving to take care of everyone would make a huge pot of this and give them a Tupperware container full of it.  Those young men fairly lined up at the door to get a container of this chili and danced all the way home.

Pin for later!

I’ll always remember Grandma teaching one of the local firemen how to make chili from scratch, and leading him around the store to find the right ingredients to cook a big batch for the station. They loved it as much as we do!

It is easy to customize the chili to your own needs. You can make it spicier by adding cayenne and Tabasco to it or make it milder for those with a sensitive stomach and for children by leaving those out and using less chili powder. Do let us know what you think if you try it. Mama would be so happy that you carry on her secret beef chili recipe.
Enjoy my friends.
