Homemade ice cream is a special summer treat here at Rosevine Cottage, from sitting on our neighbor’s porch as Mr. S made ice cream in an old ice cream maker that groned away in the humid summer air one hot afternoon. To late-night kitchen escapades, homemade ice cream will always be a favorite!
We love to create all kinds of flavors with organic ingredients like fresh strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries, mint chip, and whatever else we can think of! Homemade ice cream is so easy to make and tastes AMAZING! Delicious flavor, not too sweet, and best of all it doesn’t have all of those fillers or preservatives like the store-bought kind. This means you don’t have to feel quite so guilty when you swipe a spoonful!

Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
Supplies:
Electric Mixer or Stand Up Mixer
Ingredients:
1 cup organic whole milk
2 cups organic heavy cream
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
¾ cup raw sugar
pinch Himalayan sea salt
Directions:
Step 1: In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer on low speed or electric mixer to mix the milk, sugar, and salt until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla. Cover and place in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours, or overnight.
Step 2: Turn on the ice cream maker; pour the mixture into the frozen freezer bowl and let mix until thickened, about 15 to 20 minutes. The ice cream will have a soft, creamy texture. If you want a firmer consistency, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and place it in the freezer for 2 hours. Or make it ahead of time and store it in the freezer until you are ready to use. Remove from freezer about 15 minutes before serving. Makes about 5 cups.
