Homemade Laffa Bread

We heard about Laffa bread for the first time while watching Sergio & Rhoda’s YouTube channel and wanted to try it for ourselves, so after some research, we came up with this recipe! If you don’t know what this bread is it’s a Levantine flatbread that is traditionally baked in a taboon oven or a tannur.

Supplies To Make Laffa Bread

  • Measuring Cups & Spoons
  • Standup Mixer
  • Rolling Pin
  • Pizza stone or flat griddle

Laffa Bread Ingredients:

1 1/2 Cup Warm Water

1 Tablespoon Raw Sugar

2 1/4 Teaspoons Dry Yeast

4 Cups Unbleached Organic Flour

1 1/2 Teaspoon Himalayan Salt

2 Tablespoons Olive Oil

Directions To Make Laffa Bread:

In a mixer bowl place warm water, sugar, and yeast.  Leave it in a warm place for 10-20 minutes.

When yeast is puffy add your oil and the rest of the ingredients. Mix until the dough pulls away from the side of the bowl.

Cover, put in a warm spot 1 1/2 hours.

Remove to a floured surface, with floured hands make the dough into a ball. Cut into 8 equal pieces. Cover and let sit 10-20 minutes.

Heat oven -if using a pizza stone place in the oven when you turn it on.

Roll out dough balls into 8-10″ round or oval shapes. Prick all over with a fork.

Carefully place on loaf on the pizza stone or cookie sheet. Cook until golden in places. It only takes 3-6 minutes.

Remove from the oven, wrap in foil, and cover with a dishcloth.

  1. Thanks for the recipe – turned out delicious! I used the upside down baking sheet. The bottoms burned though – any advice on preventing that?
