Homemade Spicy Pinto Beans Recipe

Spicy pinto beans are a favorite of ours on cold winter days, they are so easy to make and taste absolutely amazing! The best part about spicy pinto beans? You can serve them in so many ways, with all different sides to create really unique meals on a budget.

Supplies:

  • Stock Pot
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Colander
  • Bowls

 

Ingredients:

Dry Pinto Beans

Water

Jalapenos

1 Medium Onion diced

oil

Salt to taste

Pepper to taste

Onion flakes to taste

 

Directions: 

 

Rinse dry beans in a colander.

Soak beans in a large pan overnight, or quick-soak them by boiling them for 2 minutes then turn off the heat, cover and let sit for 1-4 hours.

Strain the liquid off of the beans, then return them to the pan. Fill the pan with water to cover the beans.

In another pan, saute’ onion in oil until tender and add it to the beans.

Cook the beans on medium-high heat, until tender.

Season to taste and add jalapenos until the beans have reached your desired heat.
