following god into deep water

Following God Into Deep Water

We are following God into deep water. My feet no longer touch the bottom. I’m at the mercy of the water- and yet He beckons me on. Further and further from shore. Away from everything I’ve known and into the uncharted places. Following God into the scary unknown, where the only thing I have to hang onto Is Him.

Following God Into the Deep

It’s a scary place- the point where you step onto nothing and you find your feet no longer on solid ground. But it’s an exciting place, a place where Faith grows big.

Fear whispers, “You’re in too deep”. The shore mocks us, calling us fools, attention seekers. It shakes its head in pity. The safety of the harbor calls promising false security but He beckons me on with a loving hand.

I’ve got this, trust me… Not one of my sleepless nights is lost on Him. Not a tear escapes His sight. Not one shred of fear goes without His notice.

He knows how deep the water is. He knows the exact place my feet will no longer touch the bottom before I even get there. And yet He calls me forward, deeper toward Him. He sustains me until my feet can touch the solid ground again. He doesn’t grow tired of me and sending back to the shallow water, He holds me tightly until my faith grows to the bottom. Like a small child in their father’s arm’s, He draws me deeper and deeper as I grow. He won’t abandon me in the deep water, He’s stretching my faith. Feeding it so we can go deeper.

So quickly my doubt creeps in… So quickly I forget the miracles of yesterday.

You make a way where there is no way. You move the mountains like it is nothing. You bring me to the end of myself so that I fall into your waiting arms. You whisper to my awestruck soul, trust me. Not once, but over and over and over again you provide. You hold me close. You beckon me on, into the deep.

Following God – He Will Make a Way

You make a way.

You love me with unending love.
You catch me when I stumble forward in my own strength.
You write your love for me across the sky in blazing colors.
You provide in ways that could only be you.
You walk beside me in the storm and whisper peace to my soul.
You. Only you.

You amaze me. You take my breath away with your unending goodness. You make my soul sing your praises, it bubbles out until I can’t contain it. If I didn’t praise you the rocks would cry out of your goodness.

Over and over when there is no way left, no hope in sight, no one left to turn to I find myself at the foot of Calvary once again.

Following God When There Seems No Way Left

Over and over when there is no way left, no hope in sight, no one left to turn to I find myself at the foot of Calvary once again.

You are so good. You take me far away from everything that is familiar to me so that you can reveal more of your goodness to me. You are the water to my parched soul. You leave me in awe of your goodness. Through the storm, you bring me to my knees to discover your goodness all over again.

Your grace never ceases. Your love never ends. You recklessly chase after me, ever ready to wrap your arms around me. You move the mountains for me. You call me out into the deep water.
