Organic Skin Care Products

Here at Rosevine Cottage we are passionate about safe, non-toxic products from cleaners we use in the house to what we use in the yard and garden. Every product is organic, and pet safe so that we can feel confident in using them around the family.

Why It’s Important To Use Organic Skin Care Products

Organic skincare products mean that you aren’t using toxic chemicals on your skin, if you are careful to look for wholesome ingredients, and avoiding prepackaged meals then you should also be looking at what is in your skincare products so you aren’t absorbing dangerous chemicals through your skin into your body like:

  • Sulfates

  • Parabens

  • Phthalates

  • Petrolatum
  • Hydroquinone
  • Synthetic colors

  • Formaldehyde
  •  Diethanolamine

  • Artificial fragrance

  • Triclosan

  • Polyethylene Glycol

  • Toluene

  • Talc

  • Lead
  • PABA
  • Benzophenone
  • Oxybenzone

What’s The Difference Between Clean, Organic, And Natural Skin Care?

Any skin care company can put “natural” on their label, despite the toxic ingredients lurking inside the products. Which means simply looking for all-natural or natural on the label of your skin care products isn’t enough to find safe products for your family to use.

While “clean” isn’t regulated either it does tend to carry more weight when it comes to safe products. However, while clean skin care products usually come with a long list of toxic or at the very least questionable ingredients. It also doesn’t avoid synthetic lab-created ingredients that are deemed “safe”. Since the FDA has only banned 11 chemicals in cosmetics, it’s up to you to decide if you feel the ingredients in the product are safe for your family.

“Organic” is a little harder to define but it is more regulated which means you can be more confident that the ingredients inside the product are safe and toxin-free. Organic products must be certified, so this term carries the most weight when looking for all-natural safe products for your family.

How Do You Know If Your Skin Care Product Is Safe?

  • FD&C or D&C represent artificial colors. F means food and D&C mean drugs and cosmetics.
  • SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) and SLES (sodium laureth sulfate) are the common sulfates that you spot on the labels of your shampoos and other personal care.
  • Mineral oil, benzene, paraffin wax, and compounds that end in -eth are also petrolatum ingredients.
  • Ethanol, methanol, denatured alcohol, ethyl alcohol are all drying alcohols.
  • Diethanolamine is abbreviated as DEA on skincare products.
  • Formalin, formaldehyde, glyoxal, and bronopol on the labels of skincare products indicate formaldehyde.
  • PEGs can be spotted as numbers like 100, 120, 14M, 30, 32, 40, 75, and so on.
  • Chemicals under methyl, butyl, propyl classes fall under parabens.
  • Toluene is often labelled as benzene, phenylmethane, toluol and methylbenzene.

Organic Skincare: Lemongrass Spa

We were introduced to Lemongrass Spa by our dear friend Ruth Anne, she knew that we are always looking for good all-natural, organic products to try here at the Cottage so she sent us some sample products, and information on Lemongrass Spa.

Is Lemongrass Spa Really Natural?

We try to be very conscious of what is in the products we use -whether in the garden, in our recipes, or on our skin- so we were very excited to try out Lemongrass Spa’s products. Especially when we heard that they don’t use chemicals like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Petroleum byproducts, and parabens (who wants that stuff on their skin? Not me!) All of their products are handcrafted, natural, organic, toxin-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free, vegan, and most are also soy-free too! Plus they are made in the USA.

Lemongrass Spa Review

When our Lemongrass Spa package arrived we were so excited to try them, and we were not disappointed! They all smell good enough to eat! I can’t tell you which is our favorite because we love them all! They make your skin feel amazing, without feeling heavy or greasy.

They don’t burn our sensitive skin like some other products we’ve tried and you have peace of mind using them! They are definitely some of our all-time favorite skincare products!

Lemongrass Spa has a wide range of products -skincare, family and baby, beauty, body care and spa luxuries, men’s collection, essential oils, and aromatherapy. You can check out their products HERE.

Cheyenne loves the Lemongrass Spa lipstick, the toner, and hair mist.  Brianna recommends the chapstick, the body butter, and the wonderful lotions. And Tracy loves it all!

We use the all-natural bug spray on our dogs when they are out in the yard. Here in Tennessee, we have a lot of mosquitos in the summer and this spray helps to keep them off our precious furry family members and ensure that they are safe and healthy.

We are also huge fans of the revival balm for cuts and scratches on both us and our animals.

How Long Do Lemongrass Spa Products Last?

Lemongrass Spa’s products are handcrafted and date-stamped for freshness. Lemongrass Spa products will last about a year before you should replace them and order new products.
