Java Cake in a casserole pan with a bowl of coffee beans and squares of chocolate.

Delicious Java Cake

This is one of the moistest and best-tasting java cake we have ever had. Grandma loved to make this recipe for us. It is an old recipe from the depression era when things were very scarce. It does not contain any eggs or butter.  It has cold coffee in it but if you don’t like coffee please still give it a try because can’t really taste the coffee, but it just makes a super-rich and moist chocolate java cake that melts in your mouth.
This cake does not need any icing at all but you can use some. We have made this into cupcakes and add a delicious frosting to it and people adored it.  See our java cupcakes below to know how to make them and to get the recipe for the frosting as well.
We have made this super moist chocolate java cake over and over again for Mr. Cottage to take to his work and the office begged us to bring it for every birthday and office party. It is seriously THAT good.  Again, we have a great icing recipe if you want it below in our recipe for java cupcakes.  There is a version we did in a bundt pan with a bit of powdered sugar, but mostly we use a sheet cake pan or even a casserole dish that is covered with a cinnamon and sugar crunchy sprinkle on top of it.  Try this great java cake today.

For this version of java cake we omitted the sugar and cinnamon topping and used powdered sugar on the cooked cake.  We also used a mixer to mix the cake mix up instead of mixing it in the pan.
