This bread is Delicious Rye Bread for your homemade Reuben Sandwiches and regular cold cut meat sandwiches. Tender and moist and so delicious. You won’t need to buy Rye Bread again with this recipe in your recipe box. Reuben sandwiches on rye bread were a staple in our home as a child. Such yummy comfort food.

Supplies:

  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Apron
  • Mixer
  • Flour Sack Towel
  • Oven Mitts
  • Bread Pan
  • Recipe Box
  • Electric Knife
  • Slicing Guide (optional)
  • Wire Cooling Rack

Ingredients:

1 1/8 Cups Organic Milk
2 Tablespoons Coconut oil or Organic Butter
1 1/2 Tablespoons Molasses
1 1/2 Tablespoons Raw Sugar
1 1/4 Teaspoons Celtic Sea Salt
1/2 Cup Organic Whole Wheat Flour
1 3/4 Cups Organic Bread Flour
3/4 cup Organic Rye Flour
1 1/8 Tablespoons Caraway Seeds
2 Teaspoons Dry Yeast

Directions:

Warm the milk, molasses, and butter or oil until warm on your inner wrist but not hot.  Next, add raw sugar and stir well.  Pour into a large mixing bowl and sprinkle your yeast on top.  Let set until your liquid is bubbly.
In another large bowl mix together flours and salt and Caraway seeds.  Slowly add this to your milk mixture
with your mixer or by hand.  Knead well.  Place in a clean oiled bowl and cover with a light cloth or apron.  Put the bowl in a warm place away from drafts.

Let your dough rise until it is doubled in size.  Then you will Remove from the bowl and knead for another 5 minutes and then make a loaf shape and tucking the ends in place into an oiled loaf pan.  Cover it again with a light cloth and then place it in a warm place away from drafts. When the dough has risen well place in a 350 degree F. preheated oven and bake for 25 min.

When the bread is done pull out it of the oven to cool about 15 minutes.  Turn the baked bread out of the pan and onto a wire rack to finish cooling or just enjoy hot.
