Spread the love

This easy Lasagne Recipe that has been part of the family for years but it has changed as people have added their own touch to it. The sauce in this one has become our own after Auntie Betty stepped into our lives and taught us how to make her Italian sauce and even that became our own. You can make the lasagna with ricotta cheese or with cottage cheese depending on what you like better. So, put on some Frank Sinatra and lets get started on our Italian Sauce recipe to start of this beef lasagne recipe.

1 large can of tomato sauce. I like to use Hunts
5 cloves of garlic peeled and chopped
onion powder
garlic powder
Parmesan and Romano cheeses grated
tsp parsley flakes

In a nice size sauce pan heat up a couple of tablespoons of a good olive oil. If you can’t use olive oil you can use another oil.  Turn it to med/low heat and add your chopped garlic and stir constantly until it turns golden in color (not brown) and becomes very fragrant. At this point pour in your sauce. Add in your parsley flakes and cheeses. Season with garlic powder and onion powder and fresh pepper.

Turn down low and simmer slowly for about 20 min to let the seasonings mingle.

Pour over your pasta, on your lasagna, on pizza, ravioli, Manicotti, etc.
Top with grated Parmesan and Romano Cheese

Wonderful!

Ok, the sauce is in the pot simmering?

Ingredients For Lasagna:

Lasagne Noodles
Ground Beef or Pork
Cheese
Cottage Cheese or ricotta cheese
Himalayan Pink Salt
Pepper
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Parsley
Eggs
Sauce

Directions:

Now fill up another large saucepan with water and add a dash of salt and a bit of olive oil and put it on to boil. Now we are ready to work some magic.

In a skillet on your stove place your ground beef or ground pork or combination of the two. Season this will some Himalayan pink salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley. Let it brown and drain the meat.

When the water is boiling place your pasta in the pan and cook to the directions on the box, usually 8-10 minutes. Check to make sure it is done and drain. Set aside.

Get your cottage or ricotta cheese and add 2 eggs to it and 1/2 cup each of Parmesan and Romano grated cheese and stir and set aside.

You are going to want to get a 9×13 casserole dish. In the dish place about three lasagna noodles to cover the bottom of the pan overlapping slightly.

On top of this place 1/2 of your Breakstone’s cottage cheese or ricotta cheese mix spreading evenly over the pasta.

Ladle a bit of sauce over the cottage cheese and then top with 1/2 of your meat mixture. Top with a portion of your cheese (1/3). Repeat this for each layer. When you are at the top layer place your pasta, then sauce then the remaining cheese. Add extra cheese if you like!

Cover loosely with a dome of foil and put in a preheated 350 degrees F oven for 45 min. Remove foil and put back in the oven for about 5 minutes. Then remove to a trivet and let sit a couple of minutes.
Cut and eat.
