I love the challenge of decorating with natural decor, so when we had boxes of apples sitting around waiting to be canned I just had to decorate with them doing a simple apple tablescape! What better picture of fall than the apple orchard heavy with fruit. Greens, reds, and golden yellows are the fall colors of our orchard and the baskets and boxes of sweet fruit are a testimony of the harvest blessings we have received.
The baskets of pumpkins sit happily waiting but this year, I decided to do something simple and a little bit farmhouse using just the pieces that we had at the cottage to make a warm and beautiful look. I decided to do a simple apple tablescape. I grabbed our beautiful wooden dough bowl and a few red and yellow apples.
I love this mix of fall tones it gives the table without being overwhelming. Plus it stands out from traditional fall looks- but don’t worry those will be happening too!

How We Achieved This Simple Apple Tablescape
We had these pretty wooden chargers that I used as a base to the place setting. I decided not to put a placemat but to let the black table really give a grounding to the look. On top of the charger we used grandma’s black dinner plate then on top of that we used a beautiful “The Old Mill” by Johnson Bros given to us by a friend of the blog. They belonged to her mother-in-law and she gifted them to us. I love this dish set so much and thought it beautifully was set off by the wooden charger and then the table runner.
The table runner we chose is a simple canvas runner. It gives the pop of light that is reflected in those salad plates. I think it is a great look. We used vintage silver candlestick holders that we picked up at an estate sale to add some sparkle to the table. We left them oxidized to give that rustic feel to the table.
We have sweet place card holders that await the guest’s name that will sit in each place. We really love these cute little milk jugs! It gives it a homey and farmhouse feel.
But this cute little Bloom pitcher is also adorable. Feel free to mix and make the table an eclectic representation of you.
Add some cloth napkins and your flatware and you are ready to serve your guests not just a delicious meal, but the wonderful feel of home.
