Need a delicious and simple bread recipe? Look no further! We’ve got the perfect one! Soft with a yummy crust, this bread recipe is perfect for sandwiches as toast or as is with a bit of butter. This is a really popular bread recipe at the cottage and we love to make it for gifts as well. Mr. Cottage brings it to work for his friends and they love it. It is easier to slice with an electric knife and you can slice it thin or a thicker slice. Makes a great sandwich loaf, perfect for French Toast, etc. We make it with organic ingredients but you can use what you have.

Can I Make This Loaf Gluten-Free?

We have never tried it before but try using Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour at a 1:1 ratio.
 

Can I Make This Simple Loaf Sugar Free?

We have never tried it. The sugar helps the yeast to rise so you may have a flatter loaf. Try it and see.
 

 

Simple Bread Recipe

 
 1 Cup Spring Water Warmed
3 Tablespoons Coconut Oil or Grass-Fed Butter
1 1/2 Teaspoons Raw Sugar 
1 1/2 Teaspoons Celtic Sea Salt or Pink Himalayan Salt
1 1/2 Teaspoon Active Dry Yeast
1/4 teaspoon of ginger powder

Bread Machine Way:

Place wet ingredients in the bread maker, Then add flour and ginger.
Put salt, sugar, seasonings in different corners then make a small well in the center and place yeast in it.
Mix on dough setting then make into rolls, loaves, or boule’ 

Bake at 375 for 25 minutes.

Turn out of the pan after 15 minutes of cooling onto a wire rack to finish cooling. When completely cool put your bread in an airtight container.

 

The “By Hand” Way:

In your bowl add liquid ingredients (oil and water) that have been warmed (not hot) with your sugar.
Sprinkle your yeast on top and cover and let set in a warm draft-free place in your kitchen till bubbly.
Slowly mix in the remaining dry ingredients.
With a spoon or fingers start mixing until combined fully.
Let rise for 20 minutes then begin kneading.
Let rise again.
Pull it out of the bowl shape it into whatever shape you want and let rise again.
Bake at 350 for 25 minutes
