We look outside and say Finally! Spring. Is. Here!! Tulips are poking out of the ground and the scent of hyacenth blossoms, sweet in the springtime breezes tickle your nose with the wonderful fragrance.
One day you look out the French doors and there is nothing but the skeleton of trees gone dorment but suddenly the entire orchard is covered in blooms and another layer of sweet fragrance fills up the air and rides on every breeze.
We usually bring a couple of branches in and put them in a vase just to bring the beauty inside the little Cottage. Grandma would lean in each time she passed to smell them in the house and in the garden to go and water the seedlings we have planted in hopes of a bountiful harvest.

We planted all of these trees when the girls were about three and so they grew up with them. Stretching their branches long and their beautiful plumage and sweet fruit in their season and the little girls grew taller and taller, flourishing under their branches. Quilts spread under their canopy brought fine picnics, school work and reading the classics in their shade.
The saucer magnolia trees and their dark bare branches begin to bud until they burst open in a riot of bright pink in a world where the other plants still sleep.
They make the yard look so magical and the girls could never resist gathering under their branches and picking the delicate bloom off the tree to put in their long hair.
One of hot summer days where the sun stretches long into the evenings and fireflies come out of their hiding spots in the evenings.
Where they gather and dance like magic in the evening by the creek and the tree frogs sing their songs.
Where the tomatoes grow thickly on the vine so round and bright. They feel hot when you pick them off the vine from the summer sunshine.
The summer nights around the bonfire with friends and family. Such beautiful days and nights at the Cottage. I miss each one as they pass.
Hold fast to each fleeting moment.
Cherish every one
For they are a gift from a loving God.
To bless our days.
With flower and fruit. With gardens bursting with the bounty of the earth.
With autumn in all its glory.
But you do not know what will happen tomorrow! Your life is like a mist. You can see it for a short time, but then it goes away. James 4:14
