We dress set our smaller galvanized chicken feeder with small nests, little plants, and an antique rooster figurine. We wanted to keep the decor really low so that it doesn’t block people sitting on the couches view. I love how it pulls some of the colors of the table up into the decor on top.
Spring Farmhouse Living Room
Spring has been around for a while so it’s time to restyle our living room. I want to to give it more of a summery feel. We wanted to keep the fresh spring colors and textures but give it a new spin with a nod toward summer. For this look, we went with a really simple spring farmhouse living room. We worked on the fireplace and added lots of fresh flowers around the room.
We kept our white Ikea couch covers to give the living room a crisp, fresh feel. It just makes the room feel so bright and cozy. [Check out our Ikea Couch Review] This couch is really great and by changing the overs you can change the entire look of your room.
We have this beautiful rug by Natural Area Rugs. We really love the vintage look that it adds to the room. Click the link to find out more about how we got this rug and about the company.
For the mantel, we kept it really simple with a framed picture in the center, an antique cocoa urn filled with sprigs of cotton from Hobby Lobby and a cute chicken figurine. On the other side, we re purposed some garden decor and a crystal cross. We place the smaller garden decor piece on a white crock and wrapped a bit of greenery around it. Along the front of the mantel, we hung an simple egg garland and an adorable welcome to our nest sign in the center of the mantel.
This cute chicken feeder we picked up at Burke’s outlet store. It is so cute and you can really showcase some cute things. Live plants, faux plants, antiques and nature items all look great in it.
I think pops of color and texture are important in decorating. I love the smooth metal and the rough aged wood.
The bark of the nests and the live plants
Fresh picked lilacs from grandma’s bushes sit with her purple garden globe in near the window where it’s broken pieces of glass can reflect the light of the morning. We paired it with a vintage Carnival Glass candy dish that came without a lid from a nearby auction so now it holds a single white candle to catch its drips.
The egg garland adds a touch of spring and it was so easy to make. Simply blow out your eggs and save them. When you have enough string them on a string of twine or yarn to make this wonderful decorative garland.
Check yard sales and estate sales for pretty vintage pieces at great prices that you can put together to make your room beautiful. Look at the colors in this garden globe! It is just beautiful. See how the colors are mirrored in the carnival glass.
