There is just something wonderful about a big pot of chili on the stove. The smell of the spices filling the air… mmmmm, wonderful! Grandma was the queen of chili and neighbors loved when she would make large pots of it and make them care packages to take home with them. It was the best. The next morning she would make these omelets for us for breakfast. Oh man! What a treat! Try her recipe and see what you think.
This dish is super easy to make and so tasty! Cheesy potato goodness, crispy bacon, and fried eggs cooked in a cast iron skillet and topped with salsa and cilantro.
French toast is one of our favorite breakfast items here at the cottage! But we don’t always have time to make it in our busy mornings between work on the blog, chores and who knows what else will pop up on any given day. Which means quick and easy is the name of the game- especially during the summer when we have to get up early to water the garden before it gets hot. Things like our breakfast casserole that we can make the night before and heat up, or keep in the refrigerator overnight like this delicious french toast casserole. This dish is super easy to make and so yummy! Not overly sweet, with delicious berries and cream cheese. This is perfect for Mother’s Day, back to school, or just busy mornings.
After days of rain, we finally had a gorgeous day without rain so we decided to set up a Mother’s Day breakfast/tea party under the trees. This is one of my favorite spots in the yard, and probably one of the places we’ve worked the most on. You probably recognize it from our backyard movie party [check it out HERE] and Mother’s Day brunch [check it out HERE]. I love the canopy affect the trees have. Fun fact – we planted all of those trees!

This is one of our favorite breakfast treats! It hails from Hong Kong where it is served as a street food. It is super easy to make but it is sure to impress the most important guests. These taste light and fluffy, crisp around the edges. Sweet but not overly sweet. We serve them with powdered sugar and fresh fruit, but you can top them with butter and syrup, blue agave, you can roll them and stuff the inside like a cone with ice cream or fresh fruit and whipped cream. Or even make savory ones.
We thought the regular Dutch Baby was great but this Chocolate Dutch Baby kicks it up a notch. Rich chocolate pancakes cooked in ramekin dishes and topped with a sprinkling of fine powdered sugar. Your family will sing your praises. A simple but showy dish that will impress your overnight guests with your cooking prowess….
This is my very favorite pancake! These tasty treasures are so easy to make and absolutely delicious!
