Winter Home Decorations: Creating A Cozy Space
Winter is always a hard time of year for me, especially after Christmas. Usually, by the end of December, I am ready to get back out and play in the dirt. Sadly it’s usually much to muddy and cold to do anything but plant bulbs. But to chase away the winter blues, I like to bring some gardening elements into my decor along with dried flowers and green accents. The most important part of picking winter home decor is to use things that you love, and we’ll create a cozy environment for you and your family. And yes you can absolutely repurpose some of your Christmas decorations to create a beautiful winter look! Things like:
- garland
- bare or flocked trees
- mirror trees
- sleds, skates etc.
- furry, fuzzy or knit blankets and pillows
- snowflakes, or ice cycles
- deer or even snowmen
- anything that doesn’t say Christmas can honestly be reused in your winter home decor without to much trouble.
Winter Home Decorations: Signs & Art
Now Serving Old Fashioned Hot Cocoa Sign
This would the perfect sign for over a coffee station or even a mantel for a cozy farmhouse winter home decorations look. The colors are very muted, which gives you the freedom to pick accent colors to add to the overall look of the space.
This winter wonderland sign is another great winter home decor idea, I love the soft icy blue with white lettering. I could see this above a mantel with sparkling and faux fur accents around the room.
Winter Breakfast by Joseph Farquharson Painting
This would make a lovely winter home decorations piece, to create a gorgeous look.
“Shepherd’s Call” Or “Found” by Walter Hunt
This is one of my favorite paintings, we own an old lithograph of this one that I love to include in our winter home decor. You can see how we styled it in a decorating after Christmas look. If you are unfamiliar with this artist’s work, do a google search he has many beautiful works of art!
This is another really beautiful piece that you could use in your winter home decor, especially over or on a mantel for a vintage look wintery look.
Winter Home Decorations: Garland & Greenery
Boxwood Topiary Trees are a great way to keep that winter home decor look you are trying to achieve, while still adding some spring touches. This would look gorgeous beside a fireplace, on a mantel or even flanking a door.
Garland is a simple and yet gorgeous way to create a layered look and add accent colors to your space. Here is where you can reuse much of your Christmas garland, but in case you don’t have something we’ll share our favorites. First up is this beautiful smokey pine garland.
Some other great choices would be:
- Red berry garland
- Smokey pine with berries
- Eucalyptus leaf garland
- Berry and pine cone garland with leafs
- Flocked pine garland
I love to use lots of white tones in my winter home decor, and that’s why this beautiful lighted birch garland caught my eye. I would love to use a piece like this on our table.
In my book wreaths are always a good idea, especially when you are decorating after Christmas. Entryways can feel very cold after the cozy warmth of Christmas decor, and that’s why I love adding wreaths like this boxwood one. It’s simple and yet brings that coziness to a space.
This is another great winter home decor option that will add a bright splash of color to your home.
This berry and greenery wreath maybe my favorite of the ones we are sharing with you. I love how it’s a bit wild, and the colors are truly beautiful.
This is another beautiful wreath with muted colors, which is great if you are working in a space that has a lot going on and bright colors- or you are like me and just really love white.
Winter Home Decor: Cozy Accents
White and fluffy- does it get any better than these beautiful faux fur throw pillows? I’d love to have these on my bed, but they would also look gorgeous in a window seat or even on a couch or armchair.
To me, winter home decor is all about cozy, and for me throw pillows just make a couch or bed cozy. This beautiful grain sack pillow sticks with a classic farmhouse feel while adding that cozy touch I love.
These curtains would be stunning any time of year, but I love how much light they would let into a room (especially in the winter when the days are so short.
Sheepskin rug I really love how thick and cozy this rug looks- it would be perfect for a space with wood floors to add a touch of warmth to them. Or as it’s shown in a chair.
Ruched Faux Fur Throw Blanket & Pillows this is such a cozy set for your home, that’s sure to be super soft. I have a blanket that looks much like this one and it’s my absolute favorite.
These little houses would be adorable in a mantel look or even a winter tablescape with beautiful garland and soft tea lights.
